The Sherman Neighborhood Association fielded a survey throughout the month of December to get feedback on how we are doing as an association, and what our neighbors most want to talk about.
The survey had 47 respondents when it closed on December 29, with the largest numbers of participants coming from Huxley, Kropf, and Schimgen Aves.
When asked for favorite things about living in Sherman, many people listed the diversity of our neighborhood, as well as the number of families and the friendly neighbors. We identify as being close to downtown, but still keeping a down-to-earth, homey vibe. The nearby parks and greenspace are definitely seen as an asset. Sherman Neighbors also LOVE their dogs, and for the most part their neighbors' dogs too. We also identify as walkable and bikeable, and the Northside Farmer's Market is a staple for many people.
Of four areas offered, Saftey and Crime topped neighbors' lists of topics they are most interested in tracking. Neighbors are equally interested in the development potential our neighborhood has, as well as in finding more opportunities for community social events. Sherman Neighborhood will do our best to promote information sharing and activities related to these areas in the weeks and months to come.
